Vada is such a trooper. She hasn’t complained about pain at all since we left the podiatrist. After her nap, she said she was fine to go to school for a bit, so I dropped her off there for a couple hours at the end of the day. She only cried when they wouldn’t let her outside to play with the other kids! She has been walking (running, even) without any problems. After dinner, she watched a show while her foot soaked.
It looks relatively better, but the end of her nail looks totally detached to me. I’m not sure what the podiatrist meant when he said it was still attached okay, maybe the sides and underneath?
After the soak, we slathered it up with antibiotic ointment and redid the bandage. We’ll see how it looks tomorrow…
Guess where we were this morning!
If you guessed the pediatrician, the x-ray lab, the pediatrician, and the podiatrist, you were right! Vada dropped a small hand weight onto her toe this morning, and it somehow pulled her big toenail out from the nail bed. I know ! Ouch!!! But after all that, the good news is that it looks like her toe is not broken, and no stitches or anything were needed. We just have to keep it bandaged up, give her salt water soaks once a day, and wait for her nail to fall off in a month or so. Lovely. If you’re squeamish, don’t look at the picture below…

Ouch!
Saturday was wonderful – clear skies and 60 degrees! We had a picnic lunch in the front yard…
After nap, we went to the park…

That’s Jada (granddaughter of one of our neighbors). It’s always a treat when she comes over for a visit!

Vada asked to have her room painted – pink, of course! To keep her distracted for a few minutes, we let her draw on the wall…
Do you see the rhinoceros down at the bottom? That was for daddy! Here’s a close up…
Unfortunately, we had didn’t adequately communicate that the drawing was to be PAINTED OVER. Oh, the drama that ensued!
But a little “playing rhino” with daddy helped a little bit…
We couldn’t do just pink (I always have to make things complicated, sorry Chris!). Ever since we moved in, I’ve had an idea of a two-color wall with a swirl between. We’ve got the colors down, and I’ll be free-handing the swirls on top. I just hope I get them done before she’s a teen and wants to paint the whole thing over with black!

They had a visit from the fire department a couple weeks ago. Fun!

Here’s another picture from Vada’s daycare, from a couple weeks ago. That’s Vada’s buddy Taylor on the right. Whenever we ask who she’s been playing with, it’s always Taylor. For the last few days, they have been playing “twins” when they go outside. I’m not sure what all that entails, but it must be fun!
