After school, we made blackberry freezer jam with the berries we had picked on Sunday.
Vada has such a sweet tooth – she mostly liked sticking her fingers in the sugar whenever she could…
The jam turned out pretty good! I hope we’ll be able to make a couple more batches before the season is over!

Vada has been obsessed with wearing dresses lately. Every day, she wants to wear one. I have to admit, she looks totally cute in them – she reminds me of old pictures of girls all dressed up to go to school.
She’s holding “Orcie” (the orca whale), which Chris brought back from his trip to ABQ to see Jessie. She was excited to bring him to school for show and tell!

Vada had a playdate with her buddy Diana from daycare. We dragged her over to the powerline park by our house to pick blackberries. Yum!

It is so hot in Seattle right now! Three days in the 90’s, and our poor little window A/C unit upstairs is struggling to keep the house cool-ish. Thank goodness it’s supposed to cool down tomorrow!

This weekend, we explored Luther Burbank park on Mercer Island (in the middle of Lake Washington, just off I-90 as you cross over into Seattle). We only trekked around the north part of the park before we were exhausted by the heat. But it was a nice park – I’m looking forward to going back to check out the south end.

Vada’s daycare had a fieldtrip to Grasslawn park again (here is a link to last year’s trip!). She was a little adventurous this time around!
She loves to wear her swimsuit, but refuses to play in the sprinkler. Instead, she rolls around in the runoff water (“it’s so warm, mama!”). Yuck!

Our friends Suzette, Gene, Mak and Zak came up from Portland for Seafair, to see the Blue Angels. It was pretty rainy and cool, but we had fun anyway! The planes were awesome!
Not very excited at first… (on the bus from the park-and-ride to the park)
But then it gets better!
Vada got to stick her head in the Lego Lion and do a big “roar”!
The inflatable slide was a big hit, especially after Vada worked up her courage to try. Fearless Mak and Zak led the way!
Ah, fair food!
And good buddies!
