Vada’s eyes have lightened up a little bit since she was born, but they’re still a deep blue color. And at least her eyelashes are not light red like mine – maybe she’ll escape the curse of having red hair? I know, you all think it’s great, but you didn’t have to grow up with it!
Mom came to visit, and we took Vada up to the Seattle area for my cousin Donny’s wedding. She did pretty good being in the car for 5 hours! Vada was well-behaved too. 
She had another 3-day poopsplosion on the way up, but this time I was prepared and had lined the carseat with a towel before we headed out. Yay, I can learn!
The wedding was nice, and it was a real treat to be able to see some extended family without traveling to Texas!

This exersaucer gizmo was a special request from Chris: “We need more places to park the baby!” Or maybe it was “we need some more fun and stimluating activities for the baby!”. Got this one at a second-hand store, but it was only $10 less than the brand new one I had sitting at home and would have to return… As I hemmed and hawed to myself, the owner apparently sized me up and figured that I was worried about what my husband would think about me spending $50 on a baby toy. She kindly offered to give me an extra $5 off, and told me to tell my husband that I really needed this so that I could sometimes take a break to get a shower. Hmmm… I’m pretty sure I showered that morning! I didn’t tell her it was his idea in the first place – I just smiled and bought it.
It’s still a little big for her, but she manages to scuttle around in a sort of lopsided way…
It was great to have a baby in the spring! Here we are, relaxing on the back porch on a warm summer evening. The days are getting shorter, though – hard to believe that fall is just around the corner.
This has to be my favorite Vada photo so far. I just happened to catch the moment when the binky popped out, and it looks like it’s photoshopped on top of her. But oh, her cute face – she just looks so sweet with that little rosebud mouth! And really, is there any better place in the world than her daddy’s lap?
Check out little miss Vada in her bumbo chair… I must have a hundred pictures of her in this thing! She’s a little small for it, and ends up flopping over a lot, but she’ll grow into it. It’s awesome for the kitchen – we can put her in it up on the counter while we make dinner or whatnot, and she feels like she’s in on the action. It’ll come in handy when we start with the solid food in a couple months – easy clean!
