Another cute look for the fashionable Miss Vada. I’m afraid this will be the last wearing of the hipster black turtleneck – it showed just a little TOO much belly this time around. We’ll miss it. It’s hard to find girl clothes in dark colors, especially black.

Here’s Vada trying out a new toy. I figured that if she loved zipper pulls and shoestrings so much, why not make toy out of them? Suzette and I made a visit to the dollar store and the craft store, and whipped up a few from some scraps of fabric. This one has two zippers, pieces of a dog collar (with functioning buckle!), a couple hair ties, some elastic, and a bunch of shoestrings. It’s been only a mild hit so far. I imagine it’s not as fun when the bits aren’t attached to mommy or daddy.

Vada’s branching out! She tried roasted red pepper the other night, and liked it okay. I think she mostly liked that it was fun to hold…

No big story behind this one, just another cute outfit. Probably should have saved it for Valentine’s Day!

Today was the day for Vada’s 9-month checkup. On the way over, Chris and I tried to guess what her weight would be – I said 16lb 10oz, and Chris guessed 18 lb even (though when I told him Zak was weighed at 17-something last week, he figured he’d be wrong – Zak is obviously chunkier than Vada!). Amazingly, I quessed it exactly right – she was 16lb 10oz (20%), 28″ long (60%) and still has that big old noggin (95%). Everything else was great, though Dr. Nichols said that we might want to try some sort of jumping/bouncing toy to help her learn to work/bend her legs more, since she’s a little behind in that department.

In other news… we had our first bout of tummy flu here last week. Vada had a fussy day or so, and then a week of the nastiest diapers in the universe. Mommy got it worse – ringing in the new year in the bathroom, and then being completely wiped out on new year’s day (like the worst hangover ever, but without any of the fun – no fair!!!). Chris was a real trooper, and did WAY more than his share of the childcare this week. Go daddy!
