I needed to scratch a crafty itch, so I made Vada a pair of pants. I made my own pattern based off a current pair, and I think they turned out okay. Not the best material choice (kind of a silky polyester) but it was on clearance and I liked the pattern…

Vada’s about 16 months old now, and she’s starting to get to another in-between sizes stage – too big for her 12-month stuff, but still mostly too small for the 18-month stuff. I tried to go through the stash with her around, but it was an exercise in futility. Every time I made any sort of pile, that was her cue to come over and fling it all about. Well, at least it kept her entertained for a few minutes!

Yet another cute post-bath picture. Isn’t she looking huge? She doesn’t look much like a baby anymore! She’s just starting to think about walking, and will take 2 or 3 steps at a time if we’re lucky. Hopefully we’ll have a walking picture to post soon!

And some true baby sunglasses (for once, not mommy’s!)

We had a fun morning – drove out to see Carnation and Duvall, two small towns that are NE of Redmond. The housing is slightly cheaper out there, but they aren’t really quaint enough to make up for the much longer commute. We stopped for breakfast at a cafe, and Vada got to try on some fairy wings from the toy box…

Later, Vada got her first taste of frozen “go-gurt”, the blue flavor. I think she liked it, except for when she ate a big chunk that was still mostly frozen, which made her cry. I guess we should have started her on ice cream first!

She’s starting to grok sunglasses, but still will only tolerate them for a few seconds…

Okay, this is probably too much information, but… I just happened to have the camera nearby when Vada was having her morning constitutional.
What, doesn’t every parent do this?

Uncle Michael sent us a swell care package – the best part was these cute little pillows for Vada. They are SO perfect for her, because lately she’s been pulling the throw pillows off the couch and flopping herself down on them. So cute! We left the leopard one in her crib last night, and I think I can hear her playing with it right now…

Of course, the bubble wrap was a big hit too.

Daddy is funny!

Enough of that. Now pick me up!

We went back to Portland for a long weekend, for the wedding of our friends Ed and Ashley. The schedule was packed – rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, bachelor party, doctor appointments, bunco, birthday party (for Jack, one of Vada’s 1-yr old buddies), wedding, and brunch. I got plenty of photos at the wedding (to which we didn’t bring her), but that was about it!! I suck! Here’s a pic from the one time I did take some – I was trying to keep her awake in the car on the way home from the birthday party, so that she’d take a good solid afternoon nap. If you look closely, you can see a nice booboo on her chin – she whacked it good on the coffee table the day before.

Have you heard we’re having a heat wave in Seattle? It was up to 96 today! Here’s Vada getting a cool-down bath before bed. Her newest trick is chucking toys over the side, into the little toy basket. She’s a pretty good shot, though it seems more like luck than skill!

She LOVES to look at herself in the mirror after her bath, and always gets the biggest grins… She’s such a ham!

I got this “weerider” at a garage sale a while back, and this is the first time we’ve tried it out. It doesn’t quite fit Chris’ road bike, so we’ll need to buy a more roomy general purpose one. But I think Vada liked it! And I know Chris sure did – he wants to go buy that new bike right now!
