Here’s Vada playing with her two favorite toys in her big chair. I later caught her on video kissing Baby Tad’s belly over and over again. Gotta figure out how to put video here one of these days…

More chilling on the couch in the afternoon…

More chilling on the couch in the afternoon…

We went for a quick trip to the park…

then hung out at home waiting for Chris to join us. Vada crawled into her toy box, and I just had to snap a picture to show Chris. How cute is this? You might notice that she’s wearing the “dress” that Aunt Kate and Uncle Larry gave her when she was born. It’s marked 1-3 months, but it still fits her skinny arms, so now she wears it as a shirt.

At dinner, she tries two-fisted drinking…

I finally finished the dress I was making for Vada (well, reconstructed from a thrift store shirt). Just in time for fall in Seattle – oops! We tried the fashionable layered look over jeans, and I think it looks fabulous. Got lots of compliments at daycare anyway.

We’ve been trying out some breakfast places around Redmond on Sunday mornings. As Chris says, if Vada’s going to get us up so early on the weekend anyway, we may as well take advantage of it! This week it was the Brown Bag Cafe. It’s one of those places where the food is just okay but the portions are HUGE.
I always give Vada my creamer container, because she loves to play with it like a tiny little cup. Chris wanted to take a picture because he thinks it looks like we’re giving her half-and-half to drink.
You can also see how nicely her booboo is progressing. It’s a great conversation-starter – everywhere we go, people comment on it!

And here’s the rest of her “free” breakfast: one jelly portion and a packet of sugar.

Chris got a haircut while I was down in Portland…

Here’s the full outfit from Aunt Kate & Uncle Larry. We just happened to have some shoes that almost perfectly match all the dress colors. Serendipity!

Just a silly shot…

Noodles for breakfast…

Vada does the “more” sign…

Further proof that she’s really walking…

A bit of diaper rash leads to “nakey” time…

Chris’ Aunt Kate and Uncle Larry sent Vada an awesome outfit. We tried on the kimono-style wrap dress – look how beautiful it is! I can’t wait to see her in the whole ensemble (matching red shirt and bloomers). With her usual top-knot ponytail, she looks like a tiny ninja girl!

Here’s a shot that shows the nasty whack she got in daycare today. Some other toddler opened a cabinet door into her cheek. Poor poochkins. I’m sure it’s going to turn into quite a bruise.

And finally, a cute closeup.

This isn’t the best picture in the world, but at least it’s a bit of evidence that Vada really is walking now. She still crawls a lot, but the walking is coming along nicely.

I’m looking forward to the day when Vada can toss the tennis ball to Trudy. To me, it would be like a double bonus – Trudy gets exercised, Vada is entertained!

I was so excited about Vada’s walking that I thought I’d pull out the super cool shopping cart for her to play with (birthday gift from grandpa Will and grandma Lila). I jumped the gun – it was great for about 5 minutes, but it’s too light to take all the weight she puts on it. We’ll try again in a few weeks…

Melissa (Vada’s first daycare teacher, who has since been transferred to a different classroom) came over to babysit while we went looking at houses. Vada was just up from her afternoon nap, so she was being extra cuddly. But it’s obvious how much she loves Melissa. She even cried a tiny bit when it was time for her to leave! I think Melissa is pretty sweet on her too…
