Wow, we’ve had a steamy weekend! We hunkered down, and tried to stay cool. Vada’s rash is finally 100% gone. Yay! Here’s Vada showing off one of her temporary tatoos:

The whole ensemble…

Look, no spots! That’s some crazy hair, though!

Vada was in a very silly mood this morning…

Here she’s taking Chris on a tour of the house.

And yes, we let her have olives for breakfast.

Vada slept through the night!! Thank you, steroids. The rash looked much better this morning too. This was at 8am. She’s crying because she didn’t want her clothes changed, of course.

The doctor said her lungs sound fine, so we’re just keeping an eye on her. Hopefully it will be mostly over tomorrow. She’s been pretty happy today, but still so annoyingly clingy.

We had a rough night last night, an okay morning, and a pretty yucky afternoon. Her breathing seemed more rapid and shallow around 4, so I took her back to the doctor. Her blood oxygen level was fine (95-97), but her lungs sounded bad enough that the doctor gave her some oral steroids (the same stuff she got the last time she had the serious wheezies). I’m hoping this gets us through the night, and maybe if we’re really lucky, it will also help with the rash.

Not the best picture of Vada, but it’s the best shot of the rash, as of 4pm. The orange stuff on her belly is just washable marker – we did lots of art projects today!

The doctor didn’t sound convinced that it was a reaction to the antibiotics, but said that they’ll assume that’s what it was and not give her amoxycillin anymore. No matter what the cause is, we’re still facing several more days of rashy, cranky toddler. Actually, she’s not that bad. And she’s loving the extra playdoh sessions…

Vada started developing little spots on her torso while we were at the zoo. We thought maybe it was the sun or bugs, but now it’s starting to look an awful lot like the horrible rash incident from February. Both times, she had just finished up a round of antibiotics for an ear infection. It’s only two datapoints, but I’m starting to suspect that’s the culprit. I read a little about “antibiotic rash” on line, and it seems plausible (and if so, not anything to worry about). I’ll be taking her to the doctor this morning to see what they think.

At least she’s in pretty good spirits… She wanted to eat a muffin with her “big spoon” at breakfast yesterday.
